About Us

The idea of Capital Cause originated in September 2009 by a group of five dynamic women who met during the 2008 presidential election. It was during this time that a new way of giving was introduced that revolutionized the way people thought about getting involved.  Instead of believing it took a large contribution to make a big difference, people realized that small contributions – when pooled together – could make an impact as well.  All five women were involved and inspired during this time and by this movement.

Capital Cause was founded on the idea that the small contributions of like-minded young philanthropists can affect change. Our focus of targeting volunteer hours and awarding micro-grants speak to this concept, and we hope through our efforts we are able to build a new generation of donors committed to giving back over the long term.
