On Election Day, seight Young Philanthropists (YP) knocked on 250 doors in Ward 8 and informed voters of their voting rights, informed them of their polling locations and offered voters’ rides to the polls! It Was Powerful: One 18 year-old young man, who Nicholas Gourdine (YP) gave a ride to. voted for the first time. During his ride, Nick also connected him with his first job opportunity. Also, YPs – Jamila Rivers and Coretta Gray – informed a former felon that he would get his wish of voting for his candidate of choice because the District allowed former felons who had served their time and probation to vote. They drove him to the polls and waited until he was registered and cast his ballot!
