25 Young Philanthropists Prepare to Serve 772 Residents Through Giving Circles Projects Over Next 60 Days
(March 23, 2013) This weekend 25 Young Philanthropists signed up for five Giving Circles Projects. Giving Circles Projects are short-term, high-impact service initiatives that team up Young Philanthropists to crowd-fund grants to nonprofits and crowd-source skills to address community concerns. Out of the 25, fifteen will raise $6,000 to fund three nonprofit grants to the Homeless Playtime Children’s Project ($2,000), the Institute for Student Health ($2,000), and the Potomac Lighthouse Charter School ($2,000). Ten will crowd-source their time to connect 100 black boys to 100 black male mentors and eliminate a food desert for 500 Ward 7 residents in the District of Columbia. In total their efforts will benefit 772 under-served residents living in the DC Metropolitan area.
