#CCPipeline: 30 Young Philanthropists #Give4Good on MLK Weekend
January 17, 2014 , Washington, DC — Thirty young philanthropists shunned their normal Saturday routine of sleeping in to #give4good over MLK weekend! On Saturday, January 17, 2014, and in partnership with the Dream Academy, Capital Cause involved volunteers in creating games to help the youth strengthen their characters and make wise choices in social settings.
Using children’s books covering these topics, young philanthropists designed activities that supplemented the books’ messages about not bullying others, supporting friends and building self-confidence and self-esteem.
Other volunteers worked to create sample tokens of appreciation for the students to duplicate and give to their U.S. Dream Academy mentors! During “Mentor Appreciation Day” at the end of January, the thank you cards and appreciation boards would be delivered to the mentors who participate in the after-school program.
The purpose of the Pipeline Project is to teach youth who reside in low-income communities how to be benefactors since most are used to being beneficiaries!
