Announced: Capital Cause/SponsorChange Select Finalists to Give Back Time to Pay Back Loan Debt
“Finalists Announced: Young Philanthropists Volunteer to Give Back | Capital Cause/SponsorChange Agree to Pay Back Their Student Loans”
On July 16, 2014, Capital Cause and SponsorChange announced a partnership to pay back up to $1,000 in student loan debt for Capital Cause young philanthropists volunteering to give back their skills to nonprofits in the Washington, DC area. Forty-two (42) millennial young philanthropists submitted applications to be considered for the first round of awards. Applicants indicated they had student loan debt ranging from $5,000 to $250,000, with some applicants paying up to $2,000 monthly to their lenders.
“When Raymar (SponsorChange founder) approached me about partnering on this initiative, I knew it was a can’t-miss opportunity. Our young philanthropist members give selflessly to various causes, and enthusiastically fund grants and volunteer their skills with altruism being their sole motivator. This partnership represented an opportunity for us to reward members who do good work without need for accolade or recompense.”
Three finalists were selected and announced August 19, 2014. They were chosen for their vide0 editing skills, a necessary qualification for the project they may be completing.

One of the finalists will work with DC Social Innovation Project to produce videos demonstrating the work their nonprofits have done to change the community. The finalist will document their experience throughout the process.
The next round of awards for young philanthropists participating in community services projects will be announced later this year, and will offer the opportunity for more young philanthropists to participate.
